League Notices


Girl’s Catholic Grade School Basketball League

Important: The deadline of October 14, 2019 has passed, so if you have not yet updated your school's information on the team data sheet on the website, we will assume that your school will not be participating in the Diocesan league for the upcoming year.
If you have questions about the above process, please call either Chris Vallecorsa (412-782-2861) or Pat Greb (412-531-2579).

If you have provided the school's information already, then all you need to do is submit your roster and league fee (outlined below).

1. Submit Rosters
The form is on the website at http://www.2badcats.com/dopgbball/forms.aspx
Complete the roster form and either email or snail mail it to Chris Vallecorsa for Varsity or Pat Greb for JV, along with your league fee (see below #3).
If your roster information is not available, once you complete the roster, either email or snail mail it to Chris Vallecorsa for Varsity or Pat Greb for JV, along with your league fee (see below #3) by November 1, 2019.  Addresses below.

2. Payment of the League Fees

Play Like A Champion Coach Clinics - August 24, 2019 9:00 AM to Noon, November 16, 2019 9:00 AM to Noon, March 7, 2019 9:00 AM to Noon, all at St. Paul Seminary; There will also be "Advanced Clinics" for coaches who have already attended a Coach Clinic - these will expand upon the Play Like a Champion philosophy and provide experienced coaches with ongoing development opportunities - October 24, 7:00-9:00 PM, Play Like A Champion Advanced; February 20, 7:00-9:00 PM, Play Like A Champion Advanced/Post-season Meeting, all at St. Paul Seminary

This year the Diocese of Pittsburgh will continue its partnership with the Play Like a Champion Today educational series. Play Like a Champion Today is a national coach and parent education program designed specifically to elevate the culture of Catholic school-sponsored sports. Crafted by leaders in the fields of sport psychology, coaching education, Catholic theology and moral development, Play Like a Champion works in partnership with our schools to enable the athletic experience to be a missionary tool to develop our youth physically, socially, morally and spiritually; RSVP to Gary W. Camps


Each year CYO recommends summer overnight basketball camps conducted in a safe environment. We have examined and evaluated these camps for Cost, Expertise in Instruction, Amount of Games, Tournaments, Improvement, Facilities, and 24 Hour around-the-clock supervision. The camps on the attached flyer have continued to be approved and recommended by the CYO as overnight camps that have the highest level of skill development that will improve each individual to their fullest potential and prepare them to be a future High School player. The recommended camps are listed as the best instructional camps concentrating on the fundamentals of basketball. Coaching Positions


Sacred Heart Elementary School in Shadyside is looking for volunteer basketball coaches for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. We are looking for a JV Girls Head Coach, as well as assistant/B teams coaches in the girls and boys programs. Diocesan clearances required. St. Benedict the Moor School in the Hill District is looking for a volunteer coach for the upcoming 2019-2020 winter basketball season. We are looking for a Girls JV Head Coach/Varsity Assistant.
